For the film review i used these three case studies to inspire me:

For my review i looked at three different case studies found in a film magazine. The images i used were just location shots this time it wasn't a mix like the poster. Because the review makes more sense with the hollow ponds feel to it relating to the colour scheme. Both characters are displayed here and you cant tell character roles or the twist we avoided it. We used a medium shot and a medium close up shot to give a variety. Even though you cant see simones face it

shocks the audience as they want clues.  This relates to Barthes theory again because of the visual codes used allowing the film to review the consistency with the images. The layout of this design was also well thought about we changed it many times even minor ameds. Our main inspiration for this layout was the case study ' OZ The Great And The Powerful' because the main image was the key to the whole design it stood out and we also wanted to create something more about the image than the journalism.

What i liked about that poster was also the colours, and the medium shot of the location shot, it made it look magical which is what the film is about without giving too much away. I would use the same layout and strudture if i did do a double page spread. With out design i believe it works very well the layout and the images, maybe we could have improved the journalism and added another page. I implemented this design onto mine like using a location shot, a big image, a colourful image and a good structure.

In terms of the Journalism ihave taken  a  lot of inspiration from the first review. Especially with form and structure of their journalism i think it wors very well. I have used the same conventions like the page numbers, magazine editor etc, thi shelps it keep professional throughout. I also like how they used three location shots because it doesn't too much and the shots they chose are all very different. Even the types of shots as they have a close up shot, a wide shot and  a medium shot. If we dine a double page we would of picked up on that more. The writing is very colloquial so its not too in/ formal. As we want the readers to engage with it instead of being confused. The fonts we used are very simple like all the case studies we looked at. The quote used is the same as well so to seperate it and make it stand iout we just made it bigger and a different colour.

In all the case studies they use location shots as well even quotes, boxes and margins so we did use typical conventions. the pull quote like mentioned before can also show this.

We also used an initial on the O because it is eye catching, stereotyical and  we want it to look as real as possible.

We also challenged these conventions by using a blak background to relate to our genre. We also used wide and only two columns because we didnt want to give too much away and it looks lesss crowded.

We made the answers different colours so they stand out for people who just want to know what they said. Like the other case studies they either did that or made it italic we though the extra green would make it stand out.

In all three of the case studies we used and challenged some codes and conventions for our own for target audience preferences.
